I am Karen Morley the founder and CEO of Mountain Red. I created Mountain Red with a very simple vision – to produce the highest quality Deer Velvet product I could, so that I could give it to my dad to help him get well from a terrible joint complaint that was making him old before his time. That journey started over a decade ago, and from that time to now the principles we work under have never faltered. Our product is produced from whole stick velvet, with minimal processing, and without the use of any chemical additives. What Mountain Red brings to the world is a product unsurpassed in provenance, manufacture and quality.

I’m Barry Morley and I am 75 years old and still running the Redwood Hills farm in Nelson, New Zealand. I believe absolutely that it is a privilege to farm these magnificent animals. I have taken Karen’s Deer Velvet since Mountain Red began in 2002 and I believe I am in better health now than when I was 45. I reckon I’m the best I’ve ever been. I am on and off my farm bike with ease and can bend to pull on my boots - tasks that were once too difficult to do. It’s all about looking after these fantastic boys who grow this good stuff, that’s what makes Mountain Red Deer Velvet the best in the world.

I am farm manager at Nelson Lakes Farm and have enjoyed farming all my life. I also enjoy helping Barry on Redwood Hills Farm and really love working with deer – they are a very unique and intelligent animal.
Barry is so in tune with the deer – we call them ‘our boys’ – and its really special watching Barry in action. He has such huge respect for them and his animal husbandry practices really show this.
